My Story
About Cavita Chapman
Cavita's journey in the healthcare industry began as an overseas mental health nurse, where she gained first-hand experience in both the private and NHS sectors. With a solid foundation in psychology, business, and equality, Cavita has been a pivotal force in driving talent and EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) initiatives for NHS England and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) nationwide. Her expertise encompasses supporting doctors, nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals (AHPs) at both local and national levels.
In the last three years, Cavita has empowered over 200 staff network chairs and Freedom to Speak Up Guardians (FSUGs) to become exemplary advocates for their colleagues. In 2023/24, her work across six regions supported more than 185 midwives through inclusive leadership and talent development. Drawing on her experience from the Nye Bevan programme, Cavita has supported over 700 senior leaders across the Northeast, Midlands, and Southeast regions to surface the invisible and leverage their own value to enhance staff experience.
As an academic supervisor at Henley Business School, she collaborated with NHS England to embed equality and strategy into the strategic leadership academic programme. Cavita’s portfolio also includes programme management for several trusts, working with clinicians over time on key priorities such as the Capital Midwives Anti-Racism Framework. Having had an extensive mental health career Cavita will be supporting mental health trusts with their mandates around race and mental health.. Cavita is a proud mother and has an identical twin sister who is an NHS director. They enjoy being twins!!
